Introducing the Timo Rusall x SKNUPS collaboration

Inspired by the story of the Xuanzang, digital artist Timo Rusall explores the juxtaposition of digital futurism and his Chinese heritage to create a meditative experience. The CyberMonk collection presents 5 items: The Kap-Tec Helmet, the Tactiquilt Robe, the Dao-Disk gloves, the Luna Geta Boots and lastly Timo’s interpretation on the SKNUPS Hoodie.

Drawing on themes of meditation, self-discovery and journeys, the collaboration is centered around the Cybermonk. Each of the pieces provide the Cybermonk with protection from the elements as well as functionality to assist with meditation, guidance, and the journey to peace. The combination of functionality, abstract design philosophy, and inspiration from cultural heritage has lead to a striking collection which merges the worlds of ancient mythology and the distant future.

The story of the Cybermonk

The Cybermonk is a traveller in the year 2121. Braving the harsh conditions of a dangerous new world, we meet the Cybermonk in the only place he can find true peace – the Moon Gate Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary is where the Cybermonk feels at home – a rare moment of peace in a turbulent world. There, he spends months healing, focusing and meditating to maintain zen before his next journey into the unknown. Adorned in the various items he has found over his many years of adventure, the Cybermonk ventures out to search for supplies, survivors and sanctuary. The items have both a practical and spiritual functionality, whether its protecting him from harsh conditions, to helping guide him through his meditation rituals.

About Timo Rusall

Timo Rusall is a digital native artist who fuses references from fashion, CG and modern art to create digital skins, often with the end to dress his own Avatar (which features in this collaboration with SKNUPS). Following extensive research Timo starts his creative process by sketching directly in 3D, embracing an eclectic range of historic and cultural elements, his designs boldly express a futuristic utopia.

By mixing functionality and abstract design, in particular referring to his Chinese heritage and it’s ancient philosophies, this collection perfectly embodies some core values of SKNUPS: fashion and gaming.
